Award-Winning & US Navy Compliant Experts

In 2010, Unitek was awarded a 5-year $50,000,000.00 Department of Navy Munitions and Explosives of Concern (MEC) Multiple Award Contract (MAC) for various locations on Guam and the Pacific Ocean area. This contract is for Department of Navy compliance with the Joint Region Marianas (JRM) Explosive Safety Submittal (ESS). Implementation of the Guam ESS requires that all military construction address UXO/MEC considerations.

Unitek serves as Guam’s leading firm for unexploded ordnance (UXO) and munitions, explosives of concern (MEC). Our Guam-based staff of UXO Technicians including UXO Project Managers, SUXOS, UXO QC/Safety Officers, and UXO Technicians enables us to provide the necessary support for UXO/MEC conditions in the Western Pacific.

Unitek also planned and conducted Digital Geophysical Mapping (DGM) to map magnetic anomalies under the ground surface to aid in the planning for MEC clearance activities. DGM uses the latest technologies in all-metal electromagnetic detection equipment linked to real-time Global Positioning System equipment to create a high-resolution map that can be linked directly to Geophysical Information System databases. The resultant map can be used by the MEC contractor, construction contractor, and NAVFAC planning personnel to accurately identify anomalies in the construction site.
