Hazardous Waste Packaging, Transportation, Disposal

Hazardous waste packaging, transportation, and brokerage of hazardous waste for disposal remain the backbone of Unitek operations. All Unitek consultants and HAZMAT technicians have undergone 40-Hour Hazardous Waste Operations training with an annual 8-Hour refresher course as well as Forklift Operations, DOT HAZMAT Transportation, and Confined Space Entry training. Selected employees have also undergone 8-Hour HAZWOPER Supervisor training, AHERA Asbestos training, and Ammonia Emergency Response.

The hazardous waste comes in many forms; solids, liquids, corrosives, flammables, toxics, reactives, bulk, and non-bulk. Unitek maintains Guam’s most extensive stock of UN- rated DOT-approved containers for packaging of wastes including steel and polyethylene drums ranging in size from 5-gallons to 95-gallons. Unitek also maintains all personnel protection equipment necessary for repackaging activities from Level A to Level D as well as pumps, hoses, bulk loading hoppers, and field-constructed secondary containment areas.

Unitek’s staff has performed waste identification, repackaging, profiling, DOT classification, manifesting, and placarding for all types of waste generated in the Pacific including radioactive wastes. Our relationship with ocean and highway transporters as well as various disposal sites enables us to provide our clients with cost-effective solutions for PCB and hazardous waste disposal at EPA-approved disposal facilities. Final disposal of each waste is confirmed with a certificate of disposal.
